Facilities

We've invested heavily in facilities

Since being opened in 1996, we've invested heavily in state-of-the-art facilities to better serve our patients and their owners. We've gone from strength to strength thanks to the support of the local pet-owning community. Within the practice, we carry out all the services you'd expect from a RCVS Accredited small animal practice and support neighbouring practices with referral cases. We also have the facilities for visiting specialists in dermatology and ophthalmology.

To offer these special services to our pet patients, we have the following facilities:

  • 3 Dedicated Consulting Rooms
Your pet will receive a full 15-minute consultation with one of our vets, if longer is required, no problem! We will give your pet all the time they need. If you are bringing more than one pet, please let us know at the time of booking so we can allocate more time. In some cases, we will suggest your pet gets booked in with us as a day patient so we can carry out an in-depth investigation.
  • In-house Laboratory
We have an on-site laboratory that allows us to give rapid diagnosis to treat your pet. We take urine tests, skin samples and blood tests including haematology, biochemistry and electrolytes.
  • Sterilisation Room
Our fully trained in-house personnel ensure that all equipment is thoroughly sterilised to prevent infection. Using steam sterilisation, we can set different programmes as appropriate.
  • In-patient Ward
Our veterinary nurses are carefully selected, dedicated professionals whose primary responsibility is the care of our in-patients. This devotion to hospitalised patients maximises recovery and minimises the length of stay so that your pet can be back at home with you as soon as possible.
  • Isolation Ward
Any patients with potentially infectious diseases are cared for in a special area to protect them and our other patients.
  • Treatment/Surgical Preparation Room
Our dedicated operating theatre for animals is much like that found in hospitals, the standards are just as high.
  • X-ray Room with State-of-the-Art Digital Processing
At Alphavet, we are fortunate to be equipped with this cutting-edge digital radiography which enables us to get the maximum amount of diagnostic information from images. These are then saved on your pet's records to be retrieved quickly from any computer in the practice.
  • Ultrasound Scanner
A variety of conditions can be diagnosed with the aid of ultrasound scanning. These include heart conditions, liver problems and pregnancy diagnosis. A major advantage of this diagnostic method is that it is painless, non-invasive and can be performed without anaesthesia.
  • Rigid Endoscopy
We use top-of-the-range Karl Storz™ rigid endoscopy to allow us to make detailed investigations into ear, nasal and bladder conditions. Arthroscopy is used for joint conditions so that we can perform key hole surgery, less invasive than open joint with better post-op comfort and recovery time.
